I don’t think it was “white flight” at all. I think that a less than enjoyable user experience caused the flight to Facebook. The spamming & porn ads just got waaaaay out of hand. Truth be told, many of the people that left Myspace ARE bringing that same BS mentality w/ them to Facebook. For example, no-I am not coming to your “party in Arizona.” I live in NC—fuggin idiots…

Anyway, here is the article.

This is TOO MUCH!!!! “Man, I love those stretchy pants” – LOL

After all is said & done, I really remember & enjoyed MJ most from his 70’s era thru like ‘85. Honestly, I was not a fan of much after “Thriller”. I just wasn’t, I know, I know – he was now The King of Pop. We were all supposed to love it! But it was all just too much. Too “grandiose”, too “over the top”, too much “spectacle” – when all I really wanted to hear was great songs.

Of all of the (quite lengthy) catalog, I most enjoyed the perfect arrangements from the “Off the Wall” album. Goddamn, that is a good freaking record! In fact, my little brother was born to “Don’t Stop Till Ya Get Enough”. Thru studying this record, I learned about all of the masterminds behind it: Quincy Jones, Rod Temperton, Bruce Swedien, etc, etc, etc… & in hindsight (I kinda started my musical journey at this time). Well, that & the time my mom actually sat me down in her lazyboy & made me listen to “Money” by Pink Floyd with her headphones on over & over. She was trying to teach me about panning :)
Anyway, these songs helped get me started – THANK YOU for that gift of sound.

How fitting to hear what Prince had to say here…

The 3 of these guys together—WOW!

The end of this 1 is really kinda awkward—the 1st time I saw it, it tripped me out.

Here is a great set of technical questions & answers w/ Bruce Swedien on Gearslutz.

I am proud that I was born into the generation that got to live it in “real time”.

The lego stuff is always super cool!

I originally posted this (earlier) this year, but i thought it very appropriate to re-post it tonite + it’s dope as hell. The sounds will not be forgotten.

Geoffrey just sent this over…
Chopping and screwing ascend to poetic refrain with Thrill Kill., the latest installment of beat making acrobatics from Om Hip Hop artist The One (producer Geoffrey and collaborator The One). Late night elegy birth this marriage of beats chopped with surgical precision from the slick iconic album Thriller and inspired by cult bloodletting masterpiece The Killer. This unofficial cult movie score shape shifts as songs take double, sometimes triple flips. Gracefully fluid, funky with a laser sharp edge. Simply put, this shit bangs.
